The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) requires certain certifications and training to ensure the safety of children and volunteers, and to help coaches understand AYSO’s philosophies and risk management practices.

Required for All Adult Volunteers

All volunteers must have their own account at www.ayso75.org with a unique email address.

3. Risk Status / Background Check

• First-Time Users: Complete Risk Status through Sterling Volunteers 

• Returning Volunteers: Renewing and Updating Your Background Check through Sterling Volunteers

4. Complete Certifications in AYSOU 

Enroll and Complete Certifications in AYSOU

• Safe Haven

• CDC Concussion

• Sudden Cardiac Arrest

5. SafeSport Training

Special Instructions on how to complete the SafeSport training

• Use Sports Connect instructions.

• Class title: SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation

6. California Mandated Fingerprinting (Live Scan)

• California AB 506 requires all youth sports volunteers to complete a Live Scan.

• Live Scans are not transferable; you must complete one specifically for AYSO.

Registering a New Youth Volunteer

A Youth Volunteer must have an email address not previously used in Sports Connect (SSO uses email as the username).

• Create login credentials in the local Sports Connect portal.

• Select “Register Now” and complete the registration steps.

Youth Volunteers:

• Not required to complete Risk Management or Live Scan until age 18.

• Must complete: Safe Haven, CDC Concussion, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest certifications.

• May not supervise other minors alone.
